## Ms. Mari

### Target 1

###### Lesson Type:

New

Algebra

:

Variable

Write a linear equation in slope-intercept form.

###### 1:

Find the slope of a line on a graph.

###### 2:

Define the type of slope depicted in a linear equation as positive, negative, zero, and undefined.

7th

###### Vocabulary:

POSITIVE SLOPE, NEGATIVE SLOPE, ZERO, UNDEFINED

Activities:

- Given multiple line segments, determined "Which is Steepest?" -- first by just looking at the line segments, then by using the grid and determining "rise" and "run".

- Defined SLOPE as the ratio of rise/run (vertical change/horizontal change), which describes the steepness of the line.

- Used grid paper to draw lines or line segments with various slopes (postive whole number, fractional, negative).

- Workbook p. 53: Practiced graphing two ordered pairs, finding the slope of the line that passes through those points, and determining if the slope was positive, negative, zero, or undefined. ### Home Exploration

### Target 2

:

###### 1:

Use rise/run as a ratio to calculate the slope.

7th

###### Vocabulary:

SLOPE, RISE, RUN, RATIO

Activities:

- Determined a formula for calculating slope.

- Given an ordered pair, found another ordered pair so that the line going through both points had a certain slope. ### Home Exploration
