Algebra
:
Function
Graphically represent function equations in the coordinate plane.
Supporting targets:
1:
Justify whether a graphic representation is a function.
2:
Distinguish between functions and non-functions.
3:
Identify the different representations of a function on a graph.
4:
Interpret the relationship between x and y values.
5:
Grade:
8th
Vocabulary:
Function, Not function, Coordinate graph
Activities:
-Students finished sorting various coordinate graphs by function and not function. They matched the x and y table values to the cooresponding graphs. Then they analyzed the tables and the graphs to interpert the relationship between x and y values.
-Students were given examples of x and y coordinates, x and y table of values, and graphs. They decided whether each one was a function or not a function. They created an alien by adding the alien's body parts depending on what each example was, a function or not a function.
