## Ms. Kylie

### Target 1

###### Lesson Type:

New

Geometry

:

Congruence

Create scaled drawings of polygonal figures.

###### 1:

Find the scale factors for length and area.

###### 2:

Compare measurements of corresponding parts in similar figures (comparing side lengths, perimeters, areas, etc.).

###### 3:

Understand that when figures are scaled, the side lengths are proportional.

6th

###### Vocabulary:

Enlarge, Scale down, Proportional, Scale unit

Activities:

-Students discussed how they could enlarge or scale down a size of an object. They were introduced how to find the scale factor to make sure all the sides were proportional.

-Students found an object that was either a rectangular prism or cube in the learning center and measured the length, width, and height. Then they decided if they were going to enlarge or scale down the size. Students choose the scale factor they wanted to use and used the scale factor to find the proportional measurements.

-Then the students used paper to create the 3D version of the oobject using the proportional measurements.

## Absent Students:

### Target 2

:

###### 1:

Understand that graphs visually illustrate data and help make sense of data quickly.

###### 2:

Understand that a graph helps the reader visualize the information (see the data).

###### 3:

Understand that graphs are used to communicate detailed information clearly and concisely.

6th

###### Vocabulary:

Pie graph, Line graph, Data, Trend

Activities:

-Students analyzed data about what Halloween activity middle school students like participating in. They used a pie graphs to analyze the data by answering questions.

-Students also analyzed data about how much candy is consumed by one person. They used a line graph to analyze the data by answering questions.
