## Ms. Kylie

### Target 1

###### Lesson Type:

Continuation

Geometry

:

Congruence

Create scaled drawings of polygonal figures.

###### 1:

Find the scale factors for length and area.

###### 2:

Compare measurements of corresponding parts in similar figures (comparing side lengths, perimeters, areas, etc.).

###### 3:

Use ratios of corresponding sides within a figure to create similar figures or determine whether two figures are similar.

###### 4:

Understand that when figures are scaled, the side lengths are proportional.

7th

###### Vocabulary:

Enlarge, Scale down, Scale factor, Proportional

Activities:

-Students were given pictures of an orignal drawing and a second drawing. They first declared if the second drawing was a scaled drawing and then if it was they determined if it was an enlargement or if the drawing was scaled down.

-Students learned to tell whether drawings were proportional by finding the scale factor. They compared the measurement of the corresponding sides using the ratios.

-Students were given measurements of the original drawing and then a scale factor to figure out the measurements of the second drawing to make sure the sides were proportional. ### Home Exploration
