1. Students were introduced to the symbol for greater than (>). Students were shown images of small and large images, a set of counting bears to determine which was bigger/more and the direction the alligator would face.

2. Students were also given numbers to represent with blocks and identified the larger number and placed the greater than alligator to show which was greater.

Activities:

1. Students compared the size of 2 strips of papers that were of different lengths. Students determined which was longer than the other. Students used connecting cubes to practice measuring. Students were also given more strips of paper of different lengths and had to determine a specific order from longest to shortest. Students also measured themselves to see who was longer.
