### Target 1

###### Lesson Type:

New

Geometry

:

Coordinates

Use coordinates to find a location on a grid.

###### 1:

Identify the x- and y-axis on a coordinate plane.

###### 2:

Locate points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane.

###### 3:

Understand that the first number in a coordinate pair indicates placement on the x-axis and the second indicates placement on the y-axis.

4th

###### Vocabulary:

Coordinate pairs, X-axis, Y-axis, Quadrant, Coordinate plane,

Activities:

1. Students identified the x-axis and y-axis on a coordinate plane and stated that the first number in the coordinate pair is the x-axis and the second coordinate pair is the y-axis.

2. Students were given a sheet with a variety of coordinate pairs that created a mystery picture. They needed to graph different shapes based on a variety of pairs. The end result was an owl holding a pencil. ### Home Exploration

### Target 2

:

###### 1:

Accurately measure angles.

###### 2:

Identify angles as acute, obtuse, or right.

###### 3:

Understand that angles have types based on their degree measures (acute, obtuse, and right).

4th

###### Vocabulary:

Acute angle, Obtuse angle, Right angle, Degrees, Classify

Activities:

1. Discussed what classifies an acute, obtuse and right angle.

2. Had students create examples of acute, obtuse and right angles using angle sticks.

3. Students looked at a variety of angles that were either acute, obtuse or right angles. Then, they stated what type of angle each were. Finally, they used a protractor to measure those angles based on their knowledge. ### Home Exploration
