Activities:

1. Students were given a variety of amounts. They wrote it on their whiteboards first using the correct currency symbol. Then, each student determined what bills and coins were needed to display their given amount.

2. Students were given a shopping list with pets and pets needs. They needed to add the given items and determine the total amount. There was no regrouping and then regrouping.

3. Students were given items they pretended to buy and a set amount of money they gave the cashier. They needed to figure out how much change they would get back by subtracting decimals.
