Activities:

1. Students had to show their thinking steps by adding items from a pet store shopping price list and then figure out the total cost of the items. After figuring out the total cost, they needed to figure out how much change they would receive.

2. Students pretended to be the cashier and had to figure out how much I owed them as the customer for the items I wanted to buy. Then, I gave them play money to pay for my items. They needed to use the play money and give me back my correct change.

3. Students were given cards that had different amounts using coins. They needed to find the matching pair.

1. Students solved a few examples on the whiteboard that showed the input and output function.

2. Students played a game called, "Uh-Oh, I'm Late." The idea of the game was for students to match the rule with the pattern. Also, they had to memorize where cards were in order to find a match.
