Algebra

:

Function

Use input and output data to determine a function equation.

###### 1:

Understand that a function is a rule that gives one output to each input.

###### 2:

Use a function equation to fill out a function table.

###### 3:

Understand that by studying the proportional relationship between inputs and outputs, a function (equation) can be derived.

4th

###### Vocabulary:

Function, Input, Output, Rule

Activities:

1. Students played a game of "Input-Output Bump." Students rolled a dice and moved along a game table. They needed to solve the input/put rule. Then, identify what table matches with the rule. The first person to lock the most tables with two chips won the game.

2. Students were given rules, they needed to use dominoes to show the input on one side and output on the other.

3. Students created rules for their peers to solve. Each student walked around the room and solved each other's problem. ### Home Exploration

### Target 2

:

###### 1:

Understand there are many ways to multiply multi-digit numbers.

###### 2:

Explain how different methods produce the same product (how each method is doing the same thing).

###### 3:

Understand the role of place-value in multiplication strategies.

###### 4:

Use the standard algorithm for solving multi-digit multiplication equations.

4th

###### Vocabulary:

Partial products method, Multi-digit, Product, Multiplication, Standard algorithm

Activities:

1. Students were given a variety of multiplication equations to solve using the partial product method and then ssolve using standard algorithm. They used both methods to compare and check. They understood the equation can be solved in multiple ways. ### Home Exploration
