Vocabulary:

Manipulate, Rotate, Fold, Cut

Activities:

  • Students were given a set of images/directions to manipulate in their heads that included rotating, folding, and cutting the images. They decided which image best represented what the paper would look like when cut and unfolded. Then they tested their guesses by following the directions provided.
  • Students used visual reasoning to predict which color cube would be in a particular location on an array board once it was rotated for a given number of degrees (90, 180, 270, 360). Then they tested their guesses by rotating the array board and checking which color cube was in the specific location.
