Number Operation

:

Computation

Evaluate arithmetic expressions that include an exponent.

Supporting targets:
1:

Understand that an exponent indicates the number of times that a base is multiplied by itself.

2:

Write a repeating multiplication equation that is equivalent to a given exponent.

3:

Write an exponent that is equivalent to a given repeating multiplication equation.

4:

5:

Grade:

6th

Vocabulary:

Exponent: The exponent of a number says how many times to use that number in a multiplication. It is written as a small number to the right and above the base number.

:

Supporting targets:
1:

Identify the Commutative Property of Multiplication.

2:

Identify the Associative Property of Addition.

3:

Understand that changing the order of factors, does not change the product.

4:

Understand that multiplication and addition are commutative.

5:

Grade:

3rd

Vocabulary:

Associative Property, Commutative Property

Activities:

Sudents discussed Commutative and Associative property discussing the defferences and similarities between them.
