Activities:

Students familiarized themselves with measurment tools for length.

Students used rulers to measure small objects from using small units. Students then went on to measure strips of tape around the room of different lengths using larger units of measurment.

Students measured larger objects using yard sticks and rulers and measuring tape. (Ex: chairs, white boards, shoes, shelves etc.)

Activities:

Students used foam shapes and tangrams to idetify shapes that were the same.

Students used measuring tools to confirm that shapes were congruent. (measuring to see that it was not only the same shape but that they were the same size.)

Students created a shape on the floor using tape and rulers. They then switched shapes with each other and created a matching congruent shape.
