Number Operation

:

Number System

Skip count by twos and fives up to 100.

Supporting targets:
1:

Connect skip counting to repeated addition and subtraction.

2:

Explore the counting patterns through skip counting by twos from zero to 100.

3:

Explore the counting patterns through skip counting by fives from zero to 100.

4:

5:

Grade:

1st

Vocabulary:

Skip Counting, Patterns, Addition and Subtraction.

Activities:

Students created a basic number line using on the large white board. we then use the number line to show a counting to skip method.

Compare numbers, recording the results of the comparison with the symbols >, =, and <.

:

Supporting targets:
1:

Compare two quantities or numbers up to 20.

2:

Compare three quantities or numbers up to 20.

3:

Understand the meaning of the symbols > (greater than), < (less than), and = (equal to).

4:

Use place-value understandings to compare numbers.

5:

Grade:

2nd

Vocabulary:

Greater than, Lesser Than, Equal, Place Value, Symbols and Comparison

Activities:

Students rolled dice in order to get two quantities which they will to compare. (numbers 16 and under with individual dice).

Students then added the totals of two dice to determine quantities on wither side of the equation before comparing. (adding before creating comparison equaltion to make it more challenging using smaller dice)

Students used playing cards to create 3 different quanties for them to compare.
