Activities:

Students used base ten blocks to compose 2-digit-by-1-digit and 2-digit-by-2-digit multiplication problems, and solve them by multiplying each piece of the first number (tens and ones) by each piece of the second number.

Students learned a multiplication trick for multiplying any number by 10, 100, 1000, etc (multiplying by one, then adding the total number of zeros to the end).

Students learned that this method is also useful for determining the area of a 2D figure.

Students used "Multiplication Windows" to break two-digit numbers down into tens and ones in order to solve.    ### Home Exploration
